Work with us
Help build a new kind of institution. Open roles are below.
Event CoordinatorFull-time or part-time · Travel across the US and abroad
The Classical Society is a fraternal network that organizes events both online and in-person, creates private media, curates a classical curriculum, and connects values-aligned members for initiatives in business, media, the arts, and politics.
We are hiring for an Event Coordinator to work with our Head of Operations in order to level up our in-person events, including dinners, retreats, conferences, and other meet-ups.
We are not necessarily looking for a particular background. We want someone who is competent, hungry, and excited about our mission.
The role
- You'll work directly with our Head of Operations.
- You'll plan and run in-person events end to end: venues, vendors, logistics, budgets, RSVPs, and the night itself.
- You'll travel to our events and be on the ground making them happen. This will include travel across the United States and at least one international trip per year.
- You'll help build the playbooks that let us run events in more cities.
Why this job
- Learn to build a startup society. You'll see from the inside how a new kind of institution gets built, from the community itself to the culture to the clubhouse.
- Get two educations at once. Half the job is working at a values-aligned, fast-moving startup, and the other half is real-world coordination of people, places, and experiences.
- Get exposure to exceptionally talented and accomplished members. You'll work alongside an exceptionally high-caliber membership of founders, operators, and builders.
- Have room to grow. Do this well and there is potential for greater scope of responsibilities and compensation.
You might be a fit if…
- You can be given a nebulous task and just figure it out
- You can work outside of traditional hours
- You are scrupulous in both senses of the word: detail oriented and highly ethical/honorable
- You want to build something that lasts and has a civilizational impact
Travel expectations
- At least 8 retreats per year (2x week-long international retreats & 6x domestic [in the US] for at least 3 nights, Thursday–Sunday)
- ~A dozen dinners per year (1 evening only, sometimes 2 nights)
- Recruiting events and conferences on an ad hoc basis
Bonus
- You are a tech and AI native
- You have some knowledge of the Classics
- You are an avid listener of the Cost of Glory and/or the How to Take Over the World podcasts
Compensation
- You will begin working on a contract basis for the first two months, with full time employment after that, assuming a good fit
- Starting compensation is $60k/year
- While we prefer full time, a part-time arrangement at $75/hour is also possible for the right candidate
- Significant compensation increases can be expected every year in line with performance and company growth
